That was my one and only wisdom tooth, and now it is out of my mouth.

It went pretty smoothly! You rarely ever hear anyone say that, so I will tell you my boring story.

Got to the dentist's office. They took me back to the room and asked if I had any questions. I asked if I f'reals only had the one tooth: Yes. How long does this usually take: The extraction itself can take anywhere from ten minutes to an hour.

Topical anesthetic was applied.

The dentist and his assistant came in and I got the local anesthetic. Hardly felt it. They wandered off, then came back and another local anesthetic was applied to the pallet, which I was told would hurt more/the most because it's a sensitive area. Hardly felt it. (Hardly felt it an hour an a half later too lol.)

We all got to wear dorky clear glasses.

THEN THE LASER.

The laser was wheeled over and there was a slight burning smell.

The laser was put aside.

I heard some scraping, which thankfully didn't last too long because AUGH THAT SOUND IN MY HEAD.

Saw movements that gave every indication that the extracted tooth was being placed on the little table thing.

Gauze was applied.

The assistant asked if I wanted to keep it. YES. I have it in a little baggie. A whole little wisdom tooth, all my own. *snuggle*

Watched the video on the proper care of my socket, got a sheet with the same info on it and some extra gauze, dentist talked a little about the video and then I went up front and paid my $85 co-pay, called Steve, and came home.

Easy peasy.

I'm getting my wisdom teeth out today.

Or at least one, anyway. The only one we ever saw on the regular x-rays was the upper right, which is coming in. I need it out because it's annoying and cutting up the inside of my cheek. Stupid wisdom tooth.

Steve is driving me to/from the dentist. Hopefully this will go as smoothly as these things can.

Another rite of passage soon to be checked off.

I wonder if they let you keep the tooth [pieces]?

I probably won't get a lollipop but maybe they'll still have some Tiny Lip Balm left.
